Born in Brussels Belgium, Marilyn Bogerd is a semi-retired artist whose practice has led her to live, study and work around the world. From illustration and painting to photography and portraiture, her work compellingly captures beauty in all its shapes and forms. She will soon embark on a children's book project with NewSchool Instructor Jacquie Hann.

In addition to making art, Marilyn contributes by helping others. For more than 17 years, she worked with blind people first videotaping, then documenting and most recently teaching photography to visually impaired middle-school aged children and teenagers, in addition to working with blind and deaf people for more than a decade. Currently, she gives of her time freely to San Francisco Animal Care and Control, Muttville, and Senior Dogs Rescue.

In her spare time, Marilyn loves to garden. She finds the ancient art of Tai Chi supports her quiet side, while her involvement with a chorus suits her musical interests. She enjoys speaking and teaching French, which is her first language.
